03 Ideas

Once you’ve been given a project you’ll need to start writing down ideas, gathering inspiration and drawing up concepts (don’t worry if you can’t draw, stick figures will do). You’ll want at least 4 or more pages filled with inspiration and ideas.

For example if I was given the theme Lines, I would write down key words that come to mind like leading lines, architecture, modern, thin, thick etc. sometimes creating a brainstorm or an idea cloud can help with this process. From there I would sketch whatever comes to mind, however if I’m struggling to get my ideas out of my head and onto paper, I would then go to the third step which is researching artists online and using their photographs/artworks as inspiration.

Note: Whenever you use another photograph for inspiration, always accompany it with a blurb about why you like that photograph and why you are displaying it in your diary. There’s nothing worse then having an unexplained photograph!
